Aiolos Lucian John

Aiolos Lucian John, 2010

An album of ciphers, lullabies and other chimerical phenomena.
All the songs for this record were written and recorded in our cramped bedroom in Soho, NYC starting in the spring of 2008.
I worked cribside while Aiolos in his first year of life alternately slept, gazed beatifically or perplexed in my direction or way too often reached for my guitar in midsong.
Feeling at times uselessly wise, I tried my hand at original lullabies but soon veered recklessly off that road and wrote about my new terminal condition, fatherhood.
As I am compiling this it is clear to me that these recordings are the aural equivalent of the idolatry lavished on my son from the moment his eyes tried to focus upon mine.
I have no regrets for my extravagant affections but perhaps this can serve as a disclaimer to any and all not similarly afflicted.

With Amy Carpenter (Mama) : vocals
And Donna Kelly (Uncle Don): drums and percussion
